On April 1st, how many of us have listened to stories, read an description in the paper or received an email from friends, house or co-workers that was immediately followed by the loud yell of "AprilFools!"?
April 1st is the Us National holiday for tricks, pranks and other practical jokes. The generally acceptable origin of AprilFool's Day or All Fool's Day, involves changes in the calendar. At one time, the New Year celebration began on March 25 and ended on April 1. However, in 1582, King Charles Ix acceptable the beginning of the New Year as January 1. Those who refused to retort the new date or plainly forgot, received foolish gifts and invitations to nonexistent parties. It has evolved into a day of light-hearted trickery and has produced some justify and customary hoaxes.

The United State is not the only country to share in a national prank day. any others around the world also play host to a day similar to ours.
It's April - No Fooling!
o In Iran, citizen play jokes on each other on April 3, the 13th day of the Persian calendar. It is believed that citizen should go out on this date in order to escape the bad luck of whole 13.
o On April 1st, the French play a game called "April's Fish" and effort to attach a paper fish to the victims' back's without being noticed. This is also widespread in other nations, such as Italy where "April's Fish" is also used to refer to any other jokes done during the day
o In Belgium, the tradition is for children to lock their parents or teachers out of the house or school, only letting them in if they promise to bring treats the same evening or the next day.
o In some countries, along with the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, on April 1st, if somebody pulls an AprilFools' Trick after midday, then the someone pulling the trick is honestly determined the fool.
So, this year, if you can't quite originate a believable hoax, prank or joke yourself, you can try taking an idea from some of the countries above. You'll not only getting the advantage of yelling "AprilFool's!" to your unsuspecting victim, but you'll also be teaching a wee about some separate customs as well; and that's no joke!

So, me and my friend just had lunch and we had nothing much to do, we had about 20 min till we had to go. We had this one friend who was pretty gullible, so we decided to prank call her. It was really funny. And the joke is actually a day before, I went near Singapore River for some school thing and my gullible friend asked me if I ate there. I told her, "Yesyesyes, I drank the Singapore River." and she believed me. So I was actually teasing her here. The pink words are what me and my friend, the prankers, said. Blue is what my gullible friend said. In case you don't really know some of the places here... I have put it down: Heartland Mall is in Kovan and Kovan is in Singapore. Serangoon, Dhoby Ghaut, Bishan - Singapore Vivo is actually VivoCity, Singapore's current largest shopping centre. (Not in Orchard Road!) Plaza Singapura is a shopping centre in Orchard Road. Orchard Road is a very busy place in Singapore for SHOPPING! (not eating or drinking or sweeping) "Line" is the route of the MRT MRT is Mass Rapid Transit, which is like a train, subway or Underground. All this attention was quite a surprise - I mainly posted the video for the students who weren't in class that day, and so my students could pass it on to a few friends. I've read a bunch of comments, and I have a few general responses: Math: No, I wasn't actually trying to teach anything with the video - it was just for fun. This was the last 5 minutes of a 75 minute class - I actually taught real math for the first 70 minutes. And yes, I love teaching this class, and I try to keep it lively by doing little fun things like this once in a while. Software/Camera: I used Pinnacle Studio Ultimate, version 12.1 - the "picture-in-picture" feature for the special effects. I filmed it with a simple Panasonic PV-GS35 MiniDV camcorder. Idea/Time: I did this last semester as an April Fool's joke. New class, new year, I decided to try it again, with a few more twists. It took me about 45 minutes to film the video, maybe 2 hours to edit and refine it, then I practiced the interaction with the video a couple times.
